I enjoyed this book. Having fostered to adopt 3 children I could relate to much of what the author shared. Some people might be put off by the authors joking about the kids and situations, but when dealing with kids with a myriad of issues you have to look for the humour. I have had to do the same thing any times. idid find the book rambled on and at times seemed to jump around. Overall, an enjoyable book.This book was an interesting, sometimes funny, sometimes gross, sometimes rambling account of a family's experiences as foster-care parents. The narrative is kind of like a reality show put on paper: little vignettes & snippets of their ups & downs.It was very instructive as to the complexities of the foster-care system; I had no idea it was so complex & challenging! It's autobiographical, but from a legal standpoint, it's "fiction." Ehm. Okay. Either way, I enjoyed it, and it provided an interesting look into Maryland's foster care system. There were some things which surprised me, such as Maryland's "no-firearms" restriction on (at least therapeutic-level) foster homes, as well as the fact that they require health checks for your -pets- during your homestudy... but from what I understand, these requirements vary state-by-state.
